Murray McCarthy, BPHE., Dip.B.Admin., MTS.

Before beginning his fundraising career in 1998, Murray worked extensively in business as either President and/or General Manager of several major consumer products companies in Canada and the United States.

As a fundraising professional, Mr. McCarthy has directed or consulted on campaigns ranging from local programs of $100,000 to national campaigns of $40 million.

Among his many highly successful projects are: St. Marguerite d’Youville in Brampton, All Saints Parish in Westboro, St. Peter’s Parish in Cobourg, St. Mary’s Parish in Napanee, Precious Blood Parish in Toronto, Christ Parish, Stouffville and St. Bonaventure Don Mills, the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, Anglican Diocese of Qu’Appelle and Anglican Diocese of Kootenay. His church fundraising experiences include both annual financial stewardship programs, parish, diocesan and national campaigns for programs and buildings. Murray was also the Director of Development and Public Relations for Regis College from 2004 – 2009. Regis College is the Jesuit graduate faculty of theology and founding member of the Toronto School of Theology at the University of Toronto. Mr. McCarthy has spent the last five years as the Executive Director of the L’Arche Canada Foundation, a consultant to L’Arche communities across Canada and as a volunteer with L’Arche Daybreak in the Woodery.

Capital campaigns make up only a portion of his work and overall contribution to fundraising. Annual appeals, board relations, donor cultivation and general fund development awareness are all part of his background. A strong advocate of Planned Giving, he has assisted many institutions and organizations to get started in this type of gift solicitation.

He brings a balance of business acumen with a strong commitment to the success of fundraising. Murray is a graduate of the University of Toronto, and he obtained his business diploma from the School of Management at the University of Toronto. Murray completed his Masters degree in Theological Studies in 2004 at the Toronto School of Theology at the University of Toronto.
